BLOG 10: EVALUATION OF YOUR BLOGGING EXPERIENCE

Hello classmates, today I am going to write the last blog.

In general, I enjoyed a lot to do the blogs, because it was so funny and interesting. I felt that the teacher always helped us with any question, and he always had the disposition to explain whatever it was to whoever it was.

I personally feel that my writing skills have improved, because now I can write more fluently, making fewer grammatical mistakes, and I think that now I have a bigger vocabulary. Also, now I am not so google translator dependent and if I use it, I know when the translation could be wrong.

In the future I would like to include a vote about the blogs, like the few blogs that we choose, but with all the blogs, of this way I think that the class will be more motivated when writing their blogs.

I would like to write about something more important maybe, I mean, topics like the global warming, the immigrants; or more polemical topics like, Feminism, Abortion and Politic; Or just about news that affect the country. It would be interesting to read the opinions about this topic, and I think that this way it would be easier to comment classmate’s and teacher’s blogs.

Good luck with your studies. 😊

BLOG 9: MOVIES AND SERIES

Today I am going to write about one of my favorites movies, it name is “Whiplash”, this movie was written and directed by Damien Chazelle, the main characters and its respective actors are:

-Miles Teller as Andrew Neiman, a young jazz drummer at Shaffer.

-J.K. Simmons as Terence Fletcher, an exigent jazz instructor at Shaffer.

-Paul Reiser as Jim Neiman, Andrew’s father.

-Melissa Benoist as Nicole, who becomes Andrew’s girlfriend.

Andrew is a drum player at Shaffer Conservatory in New York City, he plays the drum since his childhood, he lives with his father (his mother abandoned them). The story is based in the relationship between Andrew and Terence Fletcher (a famed jazz conductor at Shaffer), this instructor generates an immense pressure on his students insulting and hitting them, even throwing things at them (like chairs), he is the most ruthless instructor. Throughout story we see how Andrew is changing his personality, he become a person more serious thanks to the exigences of Fletcher; we can see the way in how affect the relation with his girlfriend and father. In a moment of the story we see how the cruelty of Terence causes Andrew to leave the music, but after a big process of meditation he comes back to play the drum because he needs it. One more time Fletcher causes that Andrew wants to leave the music, but this time he thinks of all his perseverance, and all his time of dedication and decides to come back to the scenery ignoring all the authority of Fletcher and the magic happens…

In my opinion "Whiplash" is an amazing movie -and one of my favorites-, because it shows the reality of the effort of the musicians that wants to be the best, and the life of Andrew Neiman is so hard because nobody sees the music like he sees it  –in certain way I feel identified with his musician career-, and all his perseverance for being the best. Also, I like it because I love the soundtrack of the movie that is full of jazz.

BLOG 8: A SUBJECT I ENJOY STUDYING THIS SEMESTER

The subject that I most enjoy studying this semester is definitively laboratory techniques. In this class we learn the name of basic laboratory implementation (as the different types of flasks, volumetric materials, weighing scale, etc.) and how to manipulate it properly, also we applicate the theory of the chemistry in experiments, these experiments are supervised by teachers, and if we have any difficulty, they always help us.

The main contents that I have seen were: Preparation of solutions, in this unit I learned to prepare solutions with different concentrations; Crystallization, in this unit I learned to crystallize from a solution, as supersaturated solution; Titration -this was my favorite unit- in this unit we used the acid-base reaction to determinate the concentration of a unknown solution; Density, -this was the most boring unit- in this unit  we learned different ways to calculate the density of a solution.

I like so much this subject, because is the most didactive class, I personally feel like a “real scientist”, it is so fun to be in the laboratory and manipulate the implements to do experiments, Also I like it because the teachers are the best, the way in how they explain the contents, they make it so much easy to understand.
