Blog 5: A photograph

This is one of the most famous photos of this year (2019), because before this photograph, all the images of black holes were just theoretical. It was taken by Event Horizon Telescope (EHT), but the algorithm that was used to take this photograph was directed by Katie Bouman, a scientist of the MIT. To take this photograph it was necessary to coordinate 8 radio telescopes to global level. In this photograph we can see the first image of a black hole. It was taken during 5 days in April of 2017, and the process to reveal it took 2 years.

I like this photograph because it is impressing the way how this group of scientist taken the photograph, and the enormous size of the black hole, that is 6.500 million times bigger than our sun, and 8 times bigger than our galaxy!! Also I like it because the scientific operation was directed by a woman, thanks to that I think that the world could see that the women can do anything.
